Prior to founding Aurora Lighting Design, Leslie was a senior lighting designer with the design firms of OWP/P, Environmental Systems Design, Holabird & Root, and The Smith Group. She received her degree from Penn State in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in lighting and electrical systems. Her lighting design work includes many notable commercial and institutional projects such as Ford Center for the Performing Arts - Oriental Theatre, Oakbook Center, Kingdom Tower, Wuhan Tower, Poplar Creek Public Library, and several projects for Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The innovation and excellence of Leslie's designs have been recognized with a number of design awards, speaking engagements and publications.
LD+A magazine's December 2013 issue dubbed Ashley as “rookie of the year” in its feature on “The Future Leaders” in the lighting industry. Along with LD+A's recognition, her achievements include winning both First Place and the People's Choice award for the IESNA Chicago “Design with Light” luminaire design competition. Her degree is in Interior Design from Michigan State University, and she practiced interior design prior to making the move to lighting design. She is a member of IALD and IESNA. Major lighting design project involvement includes Kingdom Tower, Xavier Tower, E2, Chicago Innovation Exchange, and several projects for Walgreens Co.
